Yes. Your privacy is important to us. We adhere to strict FCC rules regarding captioned call privacy, and we comply with all applicable state and federal privacy laws to protect your personal information.
No. Both the ClearCaptions Phone and the captioning service are provided to qualified U.S. residents at no cost. The phone hardware is provided free of charge, and the IP CTS captioning service is funded through a federally-managed Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS) fund administered by the FCC.
To qualify for a captioning phone through ClearCaptions, you must be a U.S. resident who can certify that you are deaf or hard of hearing and need captions in order to use the phone. Since our caption services are currently only available in English, you’ll also need to speak and read English. An internet connection is also required to set up the ClearCaptions Phone.
The ClearCaptions Phone displays phone captions on an easy-to-use touchscreen display. Title IV of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) makes this service available at no cost to qualified U.S. residents.
Yes, ClearCaptions Phones are designed to work with your existing home phone line and internet connection. A stable internet connection is essential for our call captioning. No special service changes are required.
ClearCaptions Phones are provided at no cost through a federally managed program. If you no longer need the phone, you can contact ClearCaptions to arrange a return. There’s no penalty or fee, and our friendly support team will guide you through the process.
