ClearCaptions Emergency Alert System: Stay Safe with Emergency Warnings on Your Phone

During severe weather, a blaring radio or standard phone alert can easily go unnoticed if you have hearing loss.
ClearCaptions built its Emergency Alert System, or EAS, to change that. On our internet-enabled ClearCaptions Phones, FEMA weather alerts show up right on your screen, paired with a bright flashing light to catch your eye.
How the ClearCaptions Emergency Alert System Works
The Emergency Alert System connects to FEMA’s national alert network, the same system that sends warnings to smartphones and TVs across the country. When a weather emergency is issued, ClearCaptions receives that alert and sends it straight to your internet-enabled ClearCaptions Phone.
These alerts are matched to your location using the address on your ClearCaptions registration, so you only receive warnings that apply to where you live.
Emergency alerts are also displayed in large, clear text alongside a loud alarm and a bright flashing light, giving you multiple visual and audio cues when seconds count.
If an alert arrives during a call, it displays on screen while your active captions remain fully visible, allowing you to stay on the line without interruption. The system operates automatically once your phone is set up, requiring zero downloads or manual configuration. Like all ClearCaptions features, the Emergency Alert System comes at no additional cost as part of your ClearCaptions service.
Severe weather warnings matter most when they reach you in time. Call ClearCaptions at 866-996-1498 or fill out our short form to see if you qualify for a ClearCaptions Phone at no cost.
