for ClearCaptions

Stay connected with the ClearCaptions Phone, a special caption phone designed to help people with hearing loss read every word of their phone conversations. The ClearCaptions service is funded by a federally managed program, so if you qualify, we can provide the ClearCaptions Phone at no cost to you.

Eligibility criteria for a ClearCaptions Phone

Are you hard of hearing?

If you have hearing loss that requires captions to use the phone, you may qualify for a ClearCaptions Phone at no cost to you.

Do you live in the United States?

Since ClearCaptions services are funded by a federally managed program, they’re only available to qualified individuals living in the United States and its territories.

Do you have an Internet connection?

Our call captioning service requires a reliable home internet connection.

Do you communicate in English?

ClearCaptions service is currently only available in English and works best for English speakers and readers.

Do I need to provide
medical proof of hearing loss?

No medical certification is required! During setup, one of our trained ClearCaptions specialists will guide you through the self-certification process to verify your eligibility.

What happens after I confirm my
caption phone and service eligibility?

Once we confirm your eligibility, our friendly customer service representatives will explain how to have a caption phone delivered to your home. A ClearCaptions specialist will come to your residence to:

  • Install your ClearCaptions Phone
  • Set up your captioning service
  • Show you how to use your new phone

ClearCaptions is available at no cost if you qualify under Title IV of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Caption phones are available only to those with certified hearing loss. However, you can help them obtain their phone and set up the service.

Can I qualify if I wear hearing aids or cochlear implants?2026-05-04T10:16:48+00:00

Yes. Wearing hearing aids or cochlear implants will not affect your eligibility to receive a ClearCaptions Phone. Caption phones work well with hearing aids or cochlear implants, and many of our customers enjoy using both technologies at the same time.

Yes. The caption size and background color are customizable to your preference. When our specialist sets up your phone, they will also show you how to customize your settings. We also have informational videos available for you to watch on our ClearCaptions Support page.

To qualify for a ClearCaptions Phone, you must be a U.S. resident with an internet connection who can certify that you are deaf or hard of hearing. Since our caption services are currently only available in English, you’ll also need to be able to communicate in English.
