Rrr-inggg! Rrr-inggg!
Ah, remember that magnetic bell? That rotary dial? That brilliant harvest gold body? It was the modern miracle that hung prominently on the kitchen wall—the telephone. Alexander Graham Bell’s ingenious invention kept us comfortably connected…well, mostly.
While your landline phone has certainly changed over the years, staying comfortably connected has gotten easier than ever. Today, we can answer from wherever we are. Think we’re talking about your cell phone? Well, yes, but also your iPad® too! You can get captioned calls on your iPad, but did you know there’s more you can do with that tablet that you may have not even thought of?
Well, getting up and moving about is always a healthy habit so we definitely support that. When it comes to answering a phone call, though, you may not always be at home when a call comes in. Whether you’re in the yard, or on the move, you can get the whole conversation from wherever you are, larger screens and captions included!
Mobile devices like the iPhone® and the iPad put so much information and activity at our fingertips every day. You probably know how you can make and receive captioned phone calls on the iPhone thanks to the ClearCaptions Mobile app. That same app, however, has also been optimized for use on the iPad tablet, too. Yes, you can make and receive captioned calls using the larger-format tablet. Best of all, when you want to make a call or answer one that’s incoming, you don’t need to get up; just reach beside you for your tablet!
The beauty and benefits that your tablet device can bring are practically innumerable. For example, look at just a few things you can be doing from the convenience of a tablet:
Much akin to the magnificence of that rotary phone we mentioned earlier, today’s mobile tablet devices provide computing power and connection without need to be seated at a desk, staring into a computer monitor. Today, the tablet offers the handiness and freedom of a mobile phone while also offering a larger form factor that makes working with it easier.
Most importantly, the tablet does all this from wherever you are PLUS it lets you make and receive those captioned calls without having to interrupt whatever it is you’re doing. Like we said, times have changed and it’s a good thing.

ClearCaptions is available in the United States and its territories only. FEDERAL LAW PROHIBITS ANYONE BUT REGISTERED USERS WITH HEARING LOSS FROM USING INTERNET PROTOCOL (IP) CAPTIONED TELEPHONES WITH THE CAPTIONS TURNED ON. IP Captioned Telephone Service may use a live operator. The operator generates captions of what the other party to the call says. These captions are then sent to your phone. There is a cost for each minute of captions generated, paid from a federally administered fund. No costs are passed along to individuals who qualify for the service.
