How does a caption phone work?

Watch the video to see how ClearCaptions makes every phone conversation clear and easy to follow.

What is a caption phone?

If you have hearing loss, phone conversations can be challenging. A caption phone helps by turning the words your callers say into text you can read on screen.

As the other person speaks, captions appear on a large, easy-to-read screen, helping you follow the conversation. To get the best captioning experience, listen first, then read the captions. This will help make sure you never miss a word.

ClearCaptions is
free for customers

ClearCaptions is available to qualified, hard-of-hearing U.S. residents at no cost under Title IV of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These laws were created to make sure people with disabilities like hearing loss have equal opportunities and access to phone calls. It’s your right!

As part of the ADA, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires telephone and internet companies to contribute to the Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS) fund. The FCC manages the TRS fund and helps pay service providers like ClearCaptions. That’s how we can make captioned calls available at no cost to you.
