What is the Telecommunications Relay Service – User Registration Database (TRS-URD)

ClearCaptions is certified to provide a call captioning service that is funded by a federal program managed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The FCC requires we validate the information you provided when you signed up for your ClearCaptions account, with their User Registration Database (URD). This protects the service from any unqualified call captioning use and keeps it available for your ongoing needs.

To satisfy this requirement and to ensure you continue to get caption service, we need your consent to share your ClearCaptions account information with the FCC’s Telecommunications Relay Service User Registration Database (TRS-URD). Rest assured, we use only secure systems and protected transmission to keep your data safe. We will never sell your data.

What does this mean for you?

If you’re a new customer, this was likely completed when you installed your phone. If you’ve been enjoying ClearCaptions service for some time, we’ll be reaching out to update your account and collect consent. Keep an eye out for outreach from our team in the form of email, phone or mail.

If you want to learn more about the FCC’s TRS-URD and the requirement to verify your information, please visit the FCC website and guidelines here: 47 CFR §64.611(j)(2)(ii).

If you’re ready to provide your consent or have any additional questions, please call us directly at 866-868-8695.

Remember, we’re always here for you.
