Verifying your information for the FCC

ClearCaptions is certified to provide a call captioning service (IP CTS) funded by a federal program managed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).

The FCC requires ClearCaptions to verify the account information you provided when you signed up for our service and share that information with the FCC’s Telecommunications Relay Service User Registration Database (TRS-URD). This will allow us to continue to provide our service to you.

Sign into your account

Log in to your account to view or update your profile, register as a user on a joint account, verify your account information, and/or to manage your preferences for ClearCaptions products and services.

What to expect

To ensure continued access to your ClearCaptions service, we need to verify your information. This quick verification process helps maintain your caption phone service and ensures compliance with FCC requirements. A ClearCaptions representative may contact you by phone or email to complete this process. 

If we’re unable to verify your information, we may need additional information. This could include a valid form of identification such as a driver’s license or government ID. Your information will remain secure and protected throughout this required verification process. 

We need your consent to share the following information with the FCC: 

  • Your full legal name 
  • Your residential address and registered 911 address (if different) 
  • Your telephone number 
  • The last 4 digits of your Social Security Number 
  • Your date of birth 
  • Your self-certification of eligibility for IP CTS and the date obtained 

By giving your consent, you allow us to comply with FCC requirements and maintain your caption service without interruption. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the ClearCaptions Support Team at 866-868-8695. 

Keeping your data secure

Your personal information will be handled securely and confidentially. We use protected transmission methods and will never sell your data.

This verification process complies with FCC regulations under 47 CFR §64.611(j)(2)(ii) to allow you to continue using our call captioning service without interruption.

I consent, in order to validate my identity, to allow ClearCaptions to provide copies of one or more of my documents listed below, along with all of my sensitive personally identifiable information they contain, to the Telecommunications Relay Service User Registration Database (“TRS-URD”) and its service providers, which is administered by the FCC’s TRS Fund Administrator, for the purpose of ensuring proper administration of the TRS program.

  • Certificate of Naturalization or U.S. Citizenship
  • Current Mortgage or Lease Statement
  • Dated Residency Verification Letter
  • Divorce Decree/Agreement
  • Government Assistance Program

I acknowledge that I will be denied service if I do not consent to submitting one or more of the above documents to the TRS-URD.
